Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann has announced his retirement from international football after a decade with the French national team.

The 33-year-old played a key role in France’s success, featuring in three major finals: the Euro 2016 loss, the 2018 World Cup victory, and the 2022 World Cup final defeat.

He also helped France win the 2021 UEFA Nations League.

Griezmann made his debut for France in March 2014 in a 2-0 win over the Netherlands and went on to earn 137 caps, scoring 44 goals.

He was instrumental in the 2018 World Cup, scoring four goals, including a penalty in the final against Croatia.

In the 2022 World Cup, Griezmann excelled in a deeper midfield role, as France reached the final but were beaten by Argentina on penalties.

He expressed gratitude for his time with the national team, saying, “It is with a heart full of memories that I close this chapter of my life.”

He thanked the fans and highlighted the honor of becoming a world champion.

Griezmann also expressed confidence in the future of the French team, saying he would follow them with passion.

The former Barcelona player started for Atlético Madrid in a 1-1 draw against Real Madrid in La Liga, and he has hinted at ending his club career in Major League Soccer (MLS).
