President Bola Tinubu met privately with Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former Kano State Governor, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja late Monday evening, NaijNaira can report.
The PUNCH reported that the closed-door discussion took place at Tinubu’s official residence, where even top aides were restricted from joining the session.
Though no details have been made public, a source close to the Presidency described the gathering as strictly confidential.
Kwankwaso had earlier appeared at the Nigeria Forest Economy Summit 2025 held at the State House Conference Centre, just hours before the meeting.
This marks the second time the two politicians have met in Aso Rock since Tinubu’s swearing-in; the first was in June 2023.
After that initial visit, Kwankwaso told journalists, “We spoke on national development and political collaboration.”
While he hinted at possible future cooperation, he didn’t offer specifics on the nature of their talks.
This recent visit comes amid rising momentum from opposition groups, particularly the African Democratic Congress, which recently unveiled a broad alliance to take on the APC in 2027.
Though Kwankwaso’s NNPP hasn’t officially joined the coalition, many in opposition circles consider him a key figure.
He remains politically strong in Kano, where his party still holds the governor’s seat and a legislative majority.
