Cooking gas prices went up again in June 2025, with 5kg now costing ₦8,324 on average, reflecting a fresh increase from May’s ₦8,167 – www.naijnaira.com reports.
The National Bureau of Statistics shared these figures in its June 2025 “Cooking Gas Price Watch” published Thursday, according to Naija News.
Year-on-year, a 5kg cylinder is 19.49% more expensive compared to June 2024, when the price stood at ₦6,966.
Delta residents paid the most at ₦9,243.38 for 5kg, while those in Oyo spent the least at ₦7,100.
Across zones, South-South posted the steepest regional average at ₦8,871.63, while South-West had the lowest at ₦7,960.42.
For 12.5kg cylinders, the average price rose by 1.46% to ₦21,010.56 in June, up from ₦20,709.11 the month before.
That figure marks a 33.52% spike over June 2024’s ₦15,736.27.
Households in Delta, Cross River, and Rivers paid the most for 12.5kg, while Yobe, Niger, and Jigawa paid the least.
The bureau also tracked kerosene costs, with a litre now averaging ₦2,192.63—up 0.80% from May’s ₦2,175.29.
Compared to the same period last year, that price is 41% higher than June 2024’s ₦1,555.11.
Kaduna topped the list for highest per-litre kerosene at ₦2,681.58, while Abia had the lowest at ₦1,659.35.
For a gallon of kerosene, June’s national average reached ₦8,684.15, increasing by 2.38% from May’s ₦8,482.22.
That same gallon cost just ₦5,698.68 a year ago—representing a sharp 52.39% rise in just 12 months.
Edo recorded the highest gallon price at ₦10,321.63, while Abia again had the lowest at ₦6,737.40.
The South-South led with the highest costs for all fuel categories, with the South-West remaining the cheapest region.
