Kylian Mbappé’s ongoing dispute with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) over unpaid wages and bonuses remains unresolved, as the French superstar rejected a mediation proposal from the French soccer league’s legal commission.
Mbappé claims PSG owes him €55 million, including three months’ salary and a portion of a loyalty bonus.
After joining Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer, the Frenchman had sought the commission’s involvement to address the payment issue.
However, PSG maintains it does not owe the money, arguing that Mbappé had agreed to relinquish certain bonuses after he chose not to extend his contract in 2023.
The club claims there was a verbal agreement in place to support their stance, which Mbappé’s representatives deny, stating PSG has failed to provide evidence of such an arrangement.
The league’s legal commission suggested mediation, which PSG supported, but Mbappé’s camp dismissed, arguing the issue could be resolved by reviewing his payslip.
The deadlock is expected to move to an employment court for resolution.
Mbappé’s relationship with PSG soured after he felt the club didn’t fulfill promises regarding key signings.
Despite signing a lucrative deal in 2022, he was upset about the terms of the contract, particularly the 2025 extension option.
His final season with PSG was marked by tensions, leading to his exclusion from the preseason tour and the opening match of the season before his eventual return to the lineup.
