Fulham winger Adama Traoré has responded to Manchester United’s Lisandro Martínez after the Argentine defender claimed to have sent Traoré “to the gym” during their recent Premier League clash at Old Trafford.
The match ended in a 1-0 victory for Manchester United, with a goal from youngster Joshua Zirkzee giving Erik ten Hag‘s side a positive start to the season.
During the game, Martínez and Traoré had a physical battle, with Traoré initially using his speed and strength to create a chance for Fulham.
However, Martínez eventually got his revenge, brushing aside the speedy winger.
After the game, Martínez joked in a post-match interview with Sky Sports’ Jamie Carragher that he “sent him [Traoré] to the gym” after successfully challenging the Spaniard.
Traoré responded on Instagram with a six-word reply: “Don’t worry we will meet again,” followed by a winking emoji, indicating that their rivalry is far from over.
Martínez, who made just eight Premier League starts last season due to injury, is now fully fit and ready for the new campaign.
His performance against Fulham earned praise from Carragher, who noted his warrior-like mentality and resilience.
