The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has dismissed allegations made by the Arewa Youth Assembly that its President, Joe Ajaero, was plotting to stop the inauguration of President-Elect Bola Tinubu on May 29, 2023.

The NLC called the accusations “cheap blackmail” and denied any plan to scuttle the inauguration.

The Congress also refuted claims that Ajaero and his secretary general received expensive SUVs to sabotage a planned workers’ strike against the cashless policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The NLC stated that Ajaero is a law-abiding citizen who believes in the separation of powers and does not support the intimidation of judges.

The Congress also criticized the Arewa Youth Assembly for denigrating the name “Arewa” for pecuniary benefits.
