The Arewa Community in Southern Nigeria has rejected the call for the unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
In response to the call by the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Musa Saidu, the leader of the Arewa Community, stated that the call was wrong.
Saidu questioned whether the release of Kanu would stop the killings in the Southeast.
He also pointed out that members of the Arewa community were attacked in Port Harcourt, and nobody spoke up.
Saidu asked what guarantee there was that the killings would not continue if Kanu was released.
Kanu has been detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) since he was extradited from Kenya.
Despite being discharged and acquitted by the Court of Appeal, the Federal Government has refused to release him.
