Arsenal are anxiously awaiting the results of an MRI scan on captain Martin Odegaard’s ankle after he was injured during Norway’s 2-1 win over Austria in the Nations League.

The injury occurred after a reckless challenge from Austria’s Christoph Baumgartner, leaving Odegaard writhing in pain.

Norwegian teammate Leo Skiri Østigard expressed his frustrations regarding Baungartner’s unnecessary tackle. He commented, “It wasn’t very good, it seemed,” emphasizing the team’s hope for a swift recovery for Ødegaard.

The situation has escalated as Østigard hinted at a desire for vengeance for his teammate, revealing the emotions that injuries can stir up, especially in a competitive environment.

Odegaard was seen limping onto a private jet in Oslo, alongside his partner Helene Spilling, as he headed back to London for further medical tests.

Norway’s team doctor, Ola Sand, confirmed that Arsenal’s medical staff, led by Dr. Florence Newton, had decided the MRI scan would be conducted in England.

Arsenal now wait to see if Odegaard will be fit for a crucial run of games, starting with Sunday’s north London derby against Tottenham.

The Gunners are also set to play seven matches before the next international break, including a Champions League opener against Atalanta and key clashes with Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.
