Arsenal are reportedly keen to sign Viktor Gyokeres this January, with manager Mikel Arteta confirming the club’s intention to strengthen their attacking options after a series of injuries to key players.
Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, and Ethan Nwaneri are all sidelined, prompting Arteta to express the need for a new forward.
Speaking after Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Tottenham in the North London derby, Arteta stated that the club is “actively looking” for reinforcements, especially with Saka potentially out for up to three months and Jesus facing a lengthy recovery.
Arsenal’s interest is reportedly focused on Gyokeres, with reports revealing that the club is now willing to pay his €100 million (£83m) release clause.
The 26-year-old has been in outstanding form this season, scoring 32 goals in 30 appearances for Sporting.
Arsenal are also eyeing Alexander Isak and Jonathan David, but both players are unlikely to move in January due to their clubs’ reluctance to sell.
