Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to comply with a Court of Appeal order providing him access to inspect sensitive electoral materials used in the 25 February election.
INEC declared Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the poll, claiming that he had gotten 8.8 votes more than Atiku.
However, Atiku is contesting this outcome and thus filed a court petition in search of access to review the data from the voting machines and other materials that were used in conducting these elections.
He was successful in attaining an Appeal Court Order granting him such access.
Despite being repeatedly denied by INEC following his request for audience with its Director of Litigation and repeated visits from his legal team led by senior advocate Joe-Kyari Gadzama to carry out inspection, examination and obtain electoral materials as stated within the Court Order, Atiku is pressing for this request to be met within 11 days before filing a complaint regarding the result of the election.
He seeks daily access to all polling documents, machines/devices and their server/IREV/backend/clouds so as to obtain CTCs information on a state by state basis and conduct forensic audits along with expert examinations.
