FC Barcelona is looking to bolster their squad with a new winger for the left-wing position in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The club is seeking a player who can either stretch the pitch and attack the byline or cut inside from that area to find the opposition’s goal.

The final decision on the player profile will also depend on the tactical system preferred by manager Xavi Hernandez, who has shown a tendency towards using a false winger at times this season.

Several players are on Barcelona’s radar, each with their own unique characteristics.

Names like Nico Williams and Dani Olmo have emerged as potential targets, but their high price tags could prove to be a hurdle for the club.

As a result, an alternative option has been identified.

According to reports, FC Barcelona has also set their sights on Pepe, a winger from FC Porto, as a possible reinforcement for the left flank in the summer.

Pepe joined Porto in 2021 from Gremio for €15 million.

Initially used as a full-back, manager Sergio Conceição restored him to his natural position as a winger, primarily on the left.

In the current season, Pepe has contributed eight goals and ten assists in 47 games.

Barcelona had a firsthand look at Pepe during the Champions League group stages, where he even scored against them at Montjuic.

While Barcelona also has an interest in Dani Olmo, his €60 million release clause makes negotiations with RB Leipzig difficult.

Similarly, Nico Williams is admired by the club, but his signing from Athletic Club would also come at a high cost.

Pepe, on the other hand, could be seen as a more affordable alternative, with a market value of €25 million at the moment.

Barcelona’s pursuit of a left winger continues as they weigh their options and consider the potential impact each player could have on the team.
