Barcelona’s search for a new right-back during the summer transfer window has been well-documented.

After considering various options, they ultimately signed Joao Cancelo on a season-long loan from Manchester City.

However, before pursuing Cancelo, Barcelona explored the possibility of signing Nahuel Molina from Atletico Madrid.

They even offered multiple players as part of a player-plus-cash deal, but Atletico Madrid rejected all offers due to Molina’s importance to their team.

Molina, who played a key role in Argentina’s victory in the 2022 World Cup, has become an integral player for Atletico Madrid in the past year.

Atletico Madrid has no intention of letting him go, especially to a direct rival like Barcelona, unless a highly lucrative offer is made.

At the moment, negotiations for a new contract between Atletico Madrid and Molina are at a standstill, but Atletico Madrid plans to continue utilizing him in their team.
