Thomas Tuchel, the current Bayern Munich boss, has revealed that his sacking by former club Chelsea in September 2020 “still hurts”.
Tuchel, who will face his former club and title rivals Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, said that he was shocked by the decision, which came after a meeting lasting just three to five minutes.
Despite winning the Champions League with Chelsea in May 2021 and being voted World Coach of the Year, Tuchel was sacked following a 1-0 defeat by Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.
He said that he and his team felt they were in the right spot at the right time and wanted to stay longer.
Tuchel added that he still loves his job and has a passion for it, and that he built an extraordinary bond with his team during his time at Stamford Bridge.
