Enzo Fernandez appears to be pushing for a transfer from Benfica to Chelsea, as the Portuguese club are adamant about getting fee of €120 million (£105.4m) according to their release clause.
Despite initially committing to Benfica by celebrating in front of the supporters after scoring in their Portuguese Cup win, Record reports that Fernandez has had another change of heart and is keen on joining Chelsea before the window closes on Tuesday evening.
Moreover, members of Chelsea’s hierarchy are travelling to Lisbon in order to facilitate direct negotiations with Benfica and hope to get an agreement made before the deadline.
However, when asked last week if he believes Fernandez will remain at Benfica, head coach Roger Schmidt expressed optimism with his response, affirming that Enzo is happy and “not thinking about anything else”.
