Benjamin Kalu, a representative from Abia State, has been chosen as the deputy speaker of the 10th House of Representatives.
His nomination was put forward by Jimi Benson, a representative from Lagos State, and seconded by Khadijat Abba-Ibrahim, a representative from Yobe State.
As there were no other nominations, Mr. Kalu was elected unopposed.
He takes over from Idris Wase, who was a candidate for the position of speaker.
Mr. Kalu, who is serving his second term in the House, is the eighth deputy speaker of the House Assembly since 1999.
