The newly appointed governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has taken action to reverse the last-minute appointments made by his predecessor, Former Governor Samuel Ortom.
In a statement, Alia nullified all appointments made into the state civil service by the previous administration from May 2022 to date.
He also ordered all civil servants due for retirement to proceed on retirement immediately and for those appointed as Permanent Secretaries from January 2023 to date to revert to their previous positions.
Additionally, all postings and transfers made in the state civil service from October 2022 to date were nullified, and affected staff were instructed to revert to their former ranks, stations, or offices with immediate effect.
This decision comes after a war of words between the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress over the last-minute recruitment and promotion of workers carried out by Ortom.
