Bodyguard kills Uganda's Minister of State for Labour

Tragedy struck Uganda on Tuesday when Colonel Charles Okello Engola, the Minister of State for Labour, Employment and Industrial Relations, was shot dead by one of his own military bodyguards.

The shooting occurred as Engola was entering his vehicle to go to work.

The bodyguard responsible for the shooting then fled the scene and later shot himself in a nearby salon.

Eyewitnesses reported that the soldier had complained about non-payment of his wages and mistreatment before the incident.

Investigations are still in the early stages, with crime scene experts using advanced technology to determine the cause of the murder.

The Speaker of Uganda’s parliament confirmed Engola’s death in a short statement, expressing her condolences and acknowledging that “that was God’s plan. We can’t change anything.”

The tragic incident has shocked the nation and raised concerns about the safety of government officials and the military.
