The Buhari Government has defended its decision to approve multi-billion naira contracts just 18 days before the end of its tenure.
The Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Sambo, and his Water Resources counterpart, Sulaiman Adamu, explained that the government still has a duty to perform until the very last day of Buhari’s tenure.
They emphasized that the government is a continuum and that the incoming administration will continue from where this administration stopped.
The ministers also stated that there are ongoing processes and submissions to procurement agencies that need to be completed, and that the government must continue to function regardless of elections.
They assured the public that many contracts will not see the light of day in the next week or two, and that the incoming administration will have the option to continue or discontinue them.
The government should be seen as a continuum, and the current administration should be given credit for implementing projects and programs that were good for the country, even if they were initiated by previous administrations.
