At the 2023 Black Entertainment Awards (BET), Nigerian musician Burnaboy, known professionally as Damini Ogulu, was awarded Best International Act.
Despite not being present at the event, Burnaboy received a standing ovation for his win, beating out other talented artists such as Ayra Starr, Central Cee, and Stormzy.
This marks Burnaboy’s third win in the category, having previously won in 2019 and 2021.
His album ‘Love, Damini’ released in 2022 was a global success, solidifying his position as a top artist in the industry.
Other nominees in the category included Aya Nakamura, Ella Mai, K.O, L7nnon, Tiakola, and Uncle Waffle.
