Moises Caicedo’s equalizer earns Chelsea a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, denying Manchester United a win in their first Premier League match after Erik ten Hag’s sacking.

Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring for United with a penalty in the 70th minute, awarded after Chelsea’s Robert Sanchez tripped Rasmus Hojlund.

However, the excitement was short-lived, as an unmarked Moises Caicedo volleyed a stunning equaliser just four minutes later following a corner kick.

United has struggled offensively this season, entering the match with just eight league goals, second only to Southampton for the fewest in the Premier League.

United’s striker, Hojlund did not register a touch in the Chelsea box during the first half, and their first significant chance came late in stoppage time, with Marcus Rashford hitting the crossbar.

Chelsea, despite being on the back foot also had opportunities, including hitting the post early in the match.

After the penalty, United’s attacking woes continued, with Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho failing to convert chances.

Amorim’s impending appointment has sparked some optimism among fans, who believe his appointment will improve the team’s performance.
