The Coalition of National Interest Defenders (CNID) has raised the alarm over a planned coordinated attack on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Headquarters as well as smear campaigns against its Governor, Godwin Emefiele, because of his policies.
The organisation claimed there was a conspiracy to re-arrest Emefiele and install a Department of State Services stooge despite court orders protecting him.
Money launderers, vote buyers, election riggers and corrupt politicians are believed to be behind this suspected plot with USD 2 million mobilised for media smear campaigns and other protest activities in order to remove Emefiele from power.
The coalition has consequently asked for an apology from the DSS for the trauma inflicted on Emefiele and urged President Muhammadu Buhari to show support for the necessary policies of CBN.
