During a UEFA Champions League game between Celtic and Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park, German police assaulted a Celtic football fan for displaying a Palestinian flag.

Three of the five officers involved restrained the fan by kneeling on him for several minutes.

The incident is linked to growing tensions surrounding the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict.

Following Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7, Israel has launched a series of military operations against Gaza, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire.

The conflict has resulted in over 41,600 deaths, mostly women and children, with more than 96,600 others injured according to local health authorities.

Alongside the Gaza operations, Israel has been targeting Hezbollah in Lebanon since September 23, leading to 1,928 deaths and nearly 9,300 injuries, as reported by the Lebanese Health Ministry.
