Chelsea, suffered their second consecutive defeat in the Premier League, losing 2-0 to Ipswich Town after a Boxing Day defeat to Fulham.

They have now gone three matches without a win, after initially emerging as surprise title contenders during an eight-match winning run.

Ipswich dominated from the start, with Liam Delap bullying Chelsea’s defense.

In the 12th minute, Delap converted a penalty after being fouled by Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, giving him his seventh goal of the season.

Chelsea quickly responded, with Cole Palmer hitting the post from a free-kick and Joao Felix having a goal disallowed for offside after a VAR review.

Just before half-time, Palmer’s curling shot was superbly saved by Ipswich’s Christian Walton.

The second half saw Chelsea struggle to capitalize on chances.

Felix’s header was cleared off the line, and Walton denied Noni Madueke.

Ipswich doubled their lead in the 53rd minute when Axel Disasi’s misplaced pass was intercepted by Delap, who then set up Hutchinson for a clinical strike.

This goal was particularly significant for Hutchinson, who had been released twice by Chelsea in his youth career.

Chelsea were unable to recover, leaving them with a painful defeat and ramifications for their position in the table.
