Senator Chimaroke Namani, who represented Enugu East Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate and previously served as a governor of Enugu, was recently embarrassed during his campaign trail when some state residents began chanting “Onye Ohi,” meaning “Thief.”
This outcry likely comes after Nnamani endorsed Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which prompted Nnamani’s own party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to expel him from their ranks.
Videos of the altercation have been trending on social media platforms, with some Nigerians expressing outrage at Nnamani’s expulsion from PDP for endorsing another party’s candidate.
Some Nigerians on Twitter have been reacting to the video which has been trending on the micro-blogging platform.
Emeodi Mba wrote:
“My former governor Chimaroke Nnamani is facing double sack, from his party PDP and Enugu state people. Imagine being called a thief for market square.”

In response to his expulsion, Nnamani has stated that he was not invited for complaints nor given any query to respond to by the PDP NWC and therefore claims that this action could not legally stand.
