New Zealand, the co-hosts of the 2023 Women’s World Cup, suffered an early exit from the tournament as they were knocked out by Switzerland in a goalless draw.

Despite finishing in third place with four points in three games, including one win, one draw, and one defeat, New Zealand failed to qualify for the next round.

Switzerland, on the other hand, topped the group with five points after registering a win and two draws.

Meanwhile, former world champions Norway secured a spot in the round of 16 after defeating the Philippines 6-0, thanks to Sophie Haug’s hat-trick.

Norway, who had a challenging start to the tournament, finished second in Group A and will face either Spain or Japan in the next round.
