The screening of Festus Keyamo, a ministerial nominee, has caused controversy in the Senate, leading to confusion and pandemonium.
After Keyamo addressed the Chamber and explained his profile, Senator Darlington Nwokocha raised a point of order, highlighting infractions by Keyamo against the Constitution when he was the Minister of State for Employment, Labour and Productivity.
Nwokocha moved that Keyamo’s screening be stepped down in accordance with parliamentary rules, a motion seconded by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe.
In the midst of the uproar, the Senate President ordered that the Chamber be dissolved into executive session and that Keyamo be taken out of the Chamber by the Sergent-At-Arms.
