Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the Labour Party, has been reinstated to his position by an Edo State High Court after being suspended by some party members at the ward level.
The judge, Justice Emmanuel Aihamoje, dismissed the case against Abure, stating that the executives of the party in Uromi ward 3 lacked the power to remove the national chairman of the party.
The judge also imposed a perpetual injunction against Lamidi Apapa and his faction from removing or suspending Abure as the national chairman until a new national convention of the party is convened.
However, Apapa and his faction claim that Abure remains suspended from the party, citing an order from the FCT High Court and the decision of the National Executive Council meeting in Bauchi.
The breakaway faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, argued that the Edo State High Court judgment was an exercise in futility as the matter is already a subject of appeal before the Court of Appeal Abuja.
