The Labour Party is currently experiencing a rift between two factions, with the Abure faction accusing the Apapa faction of planning an illegal National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Bauchi State.

The Abure faction, in a statement issued by the acting publicity secretary, Mr Obiorah Ifoh, stated that the Apapa faction’s planned NEC was fake and unauthorized.

The Abure faction also accused the Apapa faction of inviting their presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and other leaders of the party to a convention in Bauchi, despite not supporting them during their campaigns.

The Abure faction further stated that the proposed NEC meeting was illegal and had been reported to the police and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The Apapa faction, however, maintained that their NEC meeting was lawful and that the Abure faction could never return as LP national chairman.

The National Publicity Secretary of the Apapa faction, Dr Abayomi Arabambi, stated that the Abure faction’s release was a mere ranting of an ant and that their group had ceased to exist until the court decides otherwise.
