Recent reports indicate that Crystal Palace and Arsenal are close to finalizing a deal for Eddie Nketiah, with personal terms already agreed upon.

Nketiah was on the brink of joining Nottingham Forest after the club had agreed on a £30 million deal with Arsenal. Even a medical was scheduled.

However, the move fell through because they couldn’t agree on personal terms with Nketiah.

Crystal Palace has been monitoring Nketiah for a long time, and they showed interest in the striker during the January transfer window earlier this year.

Arsenal’s firm decision to stick to the £30 million valuation for Nketiah appears to have paid off.

With personal terms already sorted, it now looks like a matter of time before Nketiah dons the Crystal Palace jersey.

This move will potentially provide Nketiah with regular playing time, something he lacked at Arsenal.

The 25-year-old forward has been playing second fiddle throughout his career, starting just 39.6% of his 187 senior appearances, yet amassing an impressive tally of 43 goals and eight assists.

Crystal Palace already features an excellent forward in Jean-Philippe Mateta, who had a standout league season in 2023/24 with 16 goals and five assists.

Nketiah’s addition will likely reduce the goal-scoring burden on Mateta, offering a competitive edge for the starting striker position.

For Arsenal, the sale of Nketiah represents pure profit, as he is an academy product.

This financial boost would assist the club in complying with Premier League Profit and Sustainability rules.
