Eberechi Eze’s double sinks Southampton as Palace continue resurgence

Crystal Palace continued their winning streak under Roy Hodgson with a 2-0 victory over Southampton, thanks to a double from Eberechi Eze.

Despite enjoying more possession, Southampton struggled to create chances and were left with a club-record 20th defeat in the Premier League.

Carlos Alcaraz came close to scoring for the hosts, but Palace held on for their third consecutive win since Hodgson’s return.

Southampton’s relegation concerns deepen as they have only picked up two points from their last 18 available.

Palace, on the other hand, are taking significant steps towards securing their own survival.

Eze’s first goal came in the 54th minute, after Jordan Ayew’s cross was pushed away by the goalkeeper, leaving Eze with an easy finish. Eze then doubled his tally in the 68th minute with a low strike from distance.

Despite some late pressure from Southampton, Palace held on for the win.
