In response to the removal of fuel subsidies, the Edo State Government has implemented a three-day school week.

Ozavize Salami, Chairperson of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board, confirmed that all basic education schools in the state will operate on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

The government has also extended learning time by one hour in primary schools and two hours in junior secondary schools to ensure that the curriculum is achieved.

The Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa, clarified that while public and civil servants will work thrice a week, government offices will remain open throughout the week for services.

Workers not on duty will operate remotely.

This measure is aimed at mitigating the impact of the subsidy removal on the state’s education system.
