Electric kills Two Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) staff in Lagos

Tragedy struck in Lagos State as two employees of the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) lost their lives due to electrocution.

The incident occurred in the Obalande area of Lagos Island and was reported to the Lion Building Division of the State Police Command on May 20, 2023, by a fellow EKEDC worker.

The victim, Umaru, aged 51, was digging to locate a faulty transformer cable when he got electrocuted.

In an attempt to rescue him, Sunday Awaruwa, aged 48, also got electrocuted.

The police arrived at the scene, rescued the victims, and rushed them to the Lagos Island General Hospital, where they were confirmed dead.

The remains of the deceased were deposited at the IDH mortuary in Yaba for autopsy, and investigations are ongoing.
