Nigeria has lost one of its respected political figures as former Agriculture Minister, Chief Audu Ogbeh, has died at the age of 78 – www.naijnaira.com reports.
His family confirmed in a statement that he passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025.
“This is a painful loss to our family and nation,” the statement read.
Ogbeh’s relatives described him as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who lived with integrity and commitment to public service.
The statement said he left behind “a legacy of service and dedication to our nation and community.”
Born on July 28, 1947, in present-day Benue State, Ogbeh attended King’s College, Lagos, before studying at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
He later furthered his education at the University of Toulouse in France.
Ogbeh began his political journey in the Benue State House of Assembly before becoming Minister under Shehu Shagari between 1979 and 1983.
