A disruption involving Fuji singer King Wasiu Ayinde, known as K1 De Ultimate, at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, has drawn sharp attention – www.naijnaira.com reports.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria confirmed it is probing the incident after the singer reportedly disregarded aviation safety rules.
FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs, Obiageli Orah, in a statement shared by NAN, explained the situation unfolded as passengers prepared to board ValueJet flight VK 201 to Lagos.
Orah said the artist attempted to board with a liquid item exceeding the allowed 100ml limit without proper medical clearance.
Despite being informed of international aviation guidelines, including ICAO Annex 17 and Nigeria’s Civil Aviation Security Programme, he declined to comply.
An airline security officer approached him for clarification, but the exchange quickly turned tense.
According to officials, K1 allegedly poured the liquid—later identified as alcohol—on the security personnel.
The flight captain got involved but eventually sealed the aircraft door after continued disruption from the singer.
Refusing to step back from the aircraft’s front area, K1 was eventually removed by AVSEC’s crime unit for questioning.
“Every breach of protocol will be met with legal consequences,” Orah stated.
She emphasized that passenger status doesn’t excuse unsafe behavior or interference with flight operations.
The investigation is ongoing, and FAAN says those responsible will be held accountable under aviation law.
