Fani-Kayode Accuses Emefiele Of trying to Derail Democracy With New Naira Notes

Femi Fani-Kayode, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has made some shocking allegations against Godwin Emefiele, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

According to Fani-Kayode, Emefiele is weaponising the apex bank and that he is using the exchange of old naira notes for new ones as an excuse to provoke an uprising in order to derail democracy.

The deadline for swapping old naira notes had originally been January 31 2023 but was later extended to February 10 due to ongoing logistical difficulties.

Fani-Kayode claims that Emefiele’s intention is to starve people of cash and fuel their frustration as a means to generate public unrest and pave the way for an Interim National Government (ING).

He thus called for action from the government to “cage” Emefiele in order to prevent his plan from coming to fruition.
