Chelsea Football Club has announced their first transfer under the management of Mauricio Pochettino.
Kendry Paez, a 16-year-old midfielder from Independiente del Valle, will join the team after his 18th birthday.
Paez has already made a name for himself in the under-20 World Cup with Ecuador, scoring a goal and three assists in four appearances.
He was also named the top talent of the 2022 Next Generation Trophy in Austria and captained his nation in the under-17 Copa America, where he recorded two goals and six assists.
Paez has scored an impressive 39 goals in 106 games for Independiente del Valle’s youth teams from 2018 to 2022 and has featured six times for the senior team in 2023, including in the Copa de Libertadores.
Chelsea has been targeting young talents, with Paez being the latest addition to their roster, following the signings of Gabriel Slonina, Carney Chukwuemeka, Cesare Casadei, and Andrey Santos (who returned on loan to Vasco da Gama due to work permit issues).
