On October 5, 2023, Fatima Binta Bello, the former Deputy Minority Whip of the House of Representatives, announced her resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a letter addressed to the chairman of the party in the Shongom ward, Shongom LGA of Gombe State, Binta expressed her decision to leave the party.

She did not provide any specific reasons for her departure or indicate her plans to join another political party.

Binta expressed gratitude to the party’s leadership and members, acknowledging that her decision was not easy but was made after consulting with her associates.

Binta had previously served as the deputy chairman of Shongom local government council and as a commissioner during the Goje-led administration.

She represented the Kaltungo/Shongom constituency in Gombe State for eight years and served as the deputy minority whip of the lower chamber in the 8th assembly.
