Liverpool have reportedly joined the race to sign Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha during this summer’s transfer window.
Despite impressing for Sporting Lisbon and establishing himself with the Portuguese squad, few Premier League sides had shown much interest in Palhinha last year.
However, since joining Fulham and becoming a key player, Palhinha has become one of the favourites for performances this season and caused problems for other teams through his defensive-minded play.
Marco Silva will be eager to keep the player under his wing as he looks to secure European qualification for Fulham but Liverpool are said to be interested in recruiting Palhinha in their rebuilding process.
The Reds are looking at a number of options including Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund, and Matheus Nunes from Wolves but could decide that an enforcer such as Palhinha is more necessary than another proactive player.
Fulham have placed an estimated £60m price tag on the 27-year-old and are holding out hope that they can retain the services of their star man regardless of offers they may receive.
