Gabriel Jesus was the standout performer for Arsenal in their 3-2 Carabao Cup quarter-final victory over Crystal Palace, scoring a hat-trick after a simple but effective conversation with Martin Ødegaard.

Despite a frustrating season with no Premier League goals, Jesus started in the match and helped turn the game around after Arsenal trailed 1-0 at halftime due to a Jean-Philippe Mateta goal.

Ødegaard was introduced at the break and played a key role in Arsenal’s comeback, providing two crucial assists for Jesus.

The Brazilian striker had given Ødegaard a straightforward message: “I know your qualities, so I’ll go in behind. If it’s open, I go, you don’t need to look, I will be there.”

The Norwegian delivered with precision, setting up Jesus for two of his goals. Bukayo Saka also provided an assist.

For Jesus, the hat-trick marked his first goals since October, and he celebrated the victory with his family, dedicating his goals to his pregnant partner.

“It’s a special time,” he said, noting the pressure he felt to score.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised Jesus’ performance, saying, “He looked really sharp, and the goals he scored were important for him and the team.”

With this win, Arsenal secured a spot in the semi-finals, where they will be joined by Liverpool, Newcastle, and either Manchester United or Tottenham.
