Liverpool grabbed a 2-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday, increasing their Premier League lead to nine points and extending City’s winless streak to seven games.

This defeat marked City’s first four-game losing streak in the league since 2008, dropping them to fifth place, 11 points behind Liverpool.

Liverpool dominated from the start, creating several chances in the first half, including two powerful headers from Virgil van Dijk, one of which hit the crossbar.

The opening goal came in the 12th minute when Trent Alexander-Arnold delivered a superb long pass to Mohamed Salah on the right.

Salah’s low cross found Cody Gakpo, who tapped in at the back post.

The second goal came in the 78th minute, when Salah converted a penalty after Luis Diaz was fouled in the box by City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega.

The penalty sealed the victory for Liverpool, pushing the club further up the table as they strengthened their position in the title race.

Meanwhile, City now faces a daunting 11-point deficit behind their rivals.
