Gakpo Strikes Twice as Liverpool Cruise to 4-1 Victory Against Ipswich

Liverpool maintained their six-point lead at the top of the Premier League with a 4-1 victory over Ipswich at Anfield.

The hosts took control early when Dominik Szoboszlai’s powerful 11th-minute shot from the edge of the box gave Liverpool the lead.

Mohamed Salah then doubled the advantage with a clinical finish after a Gakpo cross, before Gakpo himself added a third just before halftime, following a save by Ipswich goalkeeper Christian Walton.

In the second half, Gakpo completed his brace with a header from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s exquisite cross in the 66th minute.

Alexander-Arnold also hit the post with a curling shot, but Ipswich found a late consolation when Jacob Greaves headed in from a corner.

While Jacob Greaves managed to net a consolation goal for Ipswich later in the game, it did little to dampen Liverpool’s spirits.

With the victory seemingly intact, Liverpool were able to rest key players like Gakpo and Szoboszlai as the match progressed.

Arsenal’s 1-0 win at Wolves kept them six points behind Liverpool, who still have a game in hand.

Ipswich, on the other hand, faced further challenges, including the potential long-term injury of winger Wes Burns.
