Fresh details have emerged about the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra’s zoom camera, and fans expecting a hardware leap might be disappointed.
According to a new report from GalaxyClub, the Galaxy S26 Ultra features the same 50MP telephoto lens used in both the Galaxy S24 Ultra and Galaxy S25 Ultra.
The 5x optical zoom unit sticks to a 1/2.52-inch sensor with 0.7µm pixels, optical image stabilization (OIS), and phase detection autofocus (PDAF).
That’s a familiar setup for Samsung’s flagship line, and it suggests the brand isn’t making big moves in the zoom department just yet.
This confirms at least one of the telephoto lenses on the S26 Ultra will stick with the 50MP spec.
There were earlier whispers about Samsung testing a 200MP ISOCELL sensor for zoom duties, but this new info rules that out for at least one lens.
The second telephoto camera configuration remains a mystery, and there’s still room for surprises in that area.
Samsung upgraded the ultrawide sensor from 12MP to 50MP in last year’s Galaxy S25 Ultra, and that camera is expected to carry over to the S26 Ultra.
More previous leaks also hinted that Samsung might be shrinking the camera module size or adding variable aperture tech.
“The only real upgrade worth hoping for now is a better secondary telephoto sensor,” said one source familiar with the leak.
Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to launch in early 2025, but camera innovation might not be its headline act.
