According to a report from Business Day, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has been sent to the Ikoyi Correctional Centre by the Federal High Court in Lagos.

Emefiele was granted bail in the sum of N20 million with one surety in like sum.

He had been in custody for six weeks after his arrest and suspension by President Bola Tinubu.

The court rejected the Federal Government’s claim that Emefiele was a flight risk and ruled that the government failed to provide any supporting facts.

Emefiele’s counsel, Joseph Daudu, had requested bail for his client.
