News broke on Tuesday morning of the abduction of Chukwudi Ogbonna, Accord Party Assembly candidate for ONELGA Constituency 2 and popularly known as the Ori of Orashi.
Reportedly taken at gunpoint around 8 pm Monday on his way to a meeting in Port Harcourt’s GRA, Ogbonna was whisked away in his own vehicle to an unknown location.
His brother reported that the kidnapping happened shortly after Ogbonna publicly denied claims that he had collected money in exchange for removing his name from the ballot.
There have been no ransom requests and authorities report that those responsible contacted Ogbonna’s wife and informed her that he was alright.
