Hollywood is preparing to bring George Orwell’s classic fable, Animal Farm, to life in a new feature animation.
The story, originally published in 1945, explores themes of authoritarianism, propaganda, corruption, and exploitation. Set on a farm, the narrative follows a group of animals who overthrow their human oppressors, only to face new forms of tyranny from their fellow animals.
According to The Nation, this animated adaptation will feature a star-studded cast, including Seth Rogen, Steven Buscemi, Gaten Matarazzo, Laverne Cox, Kieran Culkin, Woody Harrelson, Jim Parsons, Kathleen Turner, and Iman Vellani.
Animal Farm will be produced by Aniventure, known for works like Hitpig and Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank, and The Imaginarium, co-founded by Andy Serkis and Jonathan Cavendish.
The film will be directed by Andy Serkis, with Serkis, Adam Nagle, Dave Rosenbaum, and Jonathan Cavendish serving as producers. Harrelson and Matt Reeves will executive produce the project.
This new animated version of Animal Farm promises to bring Orwell’s powerful commentary on social justice and inequality to a modern audience through a captivating, animated format.
