Cristiano Ronaldo has claimed members of Manchester United’s hierarchy doubted him when he missed pre-season because his daughter was ill in hospital.
In the first clips released by TalkTV, the 37-year-old accused United of betraying him and said he doesn’t respect manager, Erik ten Hag.
And now, in the latest teaser from the sit-down with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo has alleged the club didn’t believe him when he said his daughter, Bella, was in the hospital with bronchitis – just three months after her twin brother had died.
“I spoke with the director and the president of Manchester United and they kind of didn’t believe that something was going wrong, which made me feel bad,” Ronaldo told TalkTV.
Ronaldo added: “And it is something that really hurt me because they doubted my word that I was struggling, especially Bella and Geo [Georgina Rodriguez, Ronaldo’s girlfriend].
“I didn’t want to leave my family to do the pre-season because I didn’t think it was fair to leave my family for a pre-season. This is why I didn’t go.”
The full length of the interview with Morgan will be released in two parts on Wednesday and Thursday this week.
