The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Alkali Baba Usman, is facing a fresh contempt of court charge due to his alleged disobedience to an order issued by the National Industrial Court in Abuja.
Justice Oyebiola Oyewumi has given IGP Usman until May 2nd to appear before the court and explain why he should not be held in contempt for reportedly flouting the February 27th ruling which called for the reinstatement of four senior-ranked police officers from courses 33, 34, and 35 who had been unlawfully retired from service.
The claimants behind the suit have asked Edwin Okoro, their counsel, to report the apparent violation of court order by IGP Usman.
Both Usman and Force Secretary are necessary defendants in this legal action.
