Former Deputy Senate President of Nigeria, Ike Ekweremadu, his wife Beatrice, and their doctor Obinna Obeta have been sentenced by the Central Criminal Court in the UK for their involvement in an organ trafficking plot.

Ekweremadu was sentenced to nine years and eight months in prison, while his wife received a sentence of four years and six months.

Obeta was sentenced to 10 years in prison and had his medical license suspended.

The three were found guilty of arranging for a young Nigerian man to travel to the UK to obtain his kidney for Ekweremadu’s sick daughter, Sonia.
