The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the winner of the Kebbi State gubernatorial election as Nasiru Idris of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The announcement was made by the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner for Kebbi State, Dr. Mahmud Isa, on Sunday evening, following the collation of results from all 21 local government areas in the state.
According to the INEC commissioner, Idris polled a total of 629,239 votes to emerge as the winner of the election, while his closest rival, Senator Isah Galaudu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), scored 179,325 votes.
The commissioner also noted that a total of 1,874,020 valid votes were cast in the election, while 43,678 votes were rejected.
Reacting to the announcement, Idris expressed his gratitude to the people of Kebbi State for their support and trust in his leadership.
He also promised to run an inclusive government that will cater to the needs of all the people in the state, regardless of their political affiliation.
