Infinix Hot 9 is the latest Infinix smartphone in the Hot series for 2020 and here is its specs and price in Nigeria right now.
It was launched on March 23rd this year and it is directly succeeding the older Hot 8 which was released on September last year.
The smartphone has adopted a new design which looks pretty cool.
The design of the smartphone is identical to the Tecno Camon 15 design. It looks exactly like the Camon 15.
You know, Tecno and Infinix are from same motherhood, Transsion, so we are not surprised about this same identity.
In this post we are going to be talking about it and also be comparing it with the older Hot 8 to see if there is any upgrade.
But before then, let me quickly list the key specifications of this device.
Infinix Hot 9 Price in Nigeria
The Hot 9 from infinix is priced at N36,000 Naira which is about $100 USD. You can buy it on Jumia and Slot NG right now.

Looking at the design of the Hot 9, you can clearly see 2020 on it.
As i have said earlier, the design makes it look like the Camon 15 by Tecno.
If there is no Infinix branding below the fingerprint sensor, you would probably misplace it with the Camon 15.
It comes with a vertical rectangular module which houses four cameras and a triple led flash.
There is also a fingerprint sensor at the back, while the Hot inscription at the bottom of the back, just like regular Infinix device.
The back is made out of plastic and it also has a plastic frame.
It weighs 185grams with a dimension of 165.4 x 76.8 x 8.8 mm. The device uses the regular Dual Nano SIM and a single memory card slot.
It is available in four colours which are Midnight Black, Quetzal Cyan, Violet and Ocean Wave. In comparison with the older Hot 8.
The device comes with a good design too but it has a vertical setup module housing three cameras.
It has a glass back but it comes with a plastic frame. The device weighs 179grams with a dimension of 165 x 76.3 x 8.7 mm.
It also uses a Dual Nano SIMS and One memory card slot.
So when it comes to the design and build quality, the Hot 9 is really good as a successor. You can see that it comes with a better design and gradient colour finish.
It is worth mentioning that the Hot 8 comes with a glass back which is nice but the plastic on the Hot 9 is more durable.
Coming to the front side of things, you would immediately notice that the Hot 9 now comes with a punch hole cut-out at the upper left corner of the display unlike the waterdrop notch cut-out on the older Infinix Hot 8.
This is a good upgrade to start with, or should i say a change.
The smartphone uses an IPS LCD screen which is capable of producing 16 million colours.
It comes with a bigger 6.6inches display size which produces an HD+ resolution of 720 by 1600 pixels.
The chin and bezels has been lowered a bit which made it to attain a screen to body ratio of 82.8%.
It has a 20:9 aspect ratio and a ppi density of 266. In comparison with the Hot 8, it comes with a 6.52inches IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720 by 1600 pixels.
There is a screen to body ratio of 81.5% and 20:9 aspect ratio, with a PPI density of 269.
Now, is there any upgrade in the display? Yes, it now comes with a bigger 6.6inches display size but it still retains the same 720 by 1600 pixels.
So in terms of display, Hot 9 is only better with a bigger 6.6inches size and nothing more.
Hardware and Software
This is the part everyone is always waiting for.
The Hot 9 is powered by a MediaTek Helio A25 chipset which has an Octa core processor clocked at 1.8GHz for the first four cores and 1.5GHz for the last four cores.
It is running on Android 10 out of the box with the new Infinix’s XOS 6.0 Dolphin user interface.
PowerVR GE8320 GPU is responsible for delivering good graphics representation or gaming.
The Hot 9 comes in so many storage configurations depending on your location.
They are 32GB 2GB RAM, 32GB 3GB RAM, 64GB 3GB RAM, 64GB 4GB RAM, 128GB 4GB RAM. A dedicated micro SD card slot is available for expansion.
In comparison with the older Infinix Hot 8, it is powered by a MediaTek Helio P22 chipset which uses an Octa core processor clocked at 1.8GHz.
It is running on Android 9 Pie with XOS 5.0 user interface. The smartphone is available in two storage configurations which are 32GB 2GB RAM, 64GB 4GB RAM.
It also has a PowerVR GE8320 GPU responsible for graphics or gaming.
So when it comes to the hardware and software aspect, i don’t think Hot 9 really comes with an upgrade.
MediaTek Helio A25 chipset and the Helio P22 chipset can somehow perform the same.
But the Hot 9 will be a little optimized and comes with a new features because it is a 2020 smartphone, in terms of speed and performance, they are same.
Moving over to the photography aspect, hot 9 comes with a quad rear cameras which is set-up in a vertical rectangular module.
The quad rear cameras includes a 13-mega pixels main camera, 2-mega pixels macro camera, 2-mega pixels depth sensor and a low light QVGA Lens.
On the front, it has an 8-mega pixels selfie camera. The rear camera can shoot videos in 1080p at 30fps, likewise the front camera.
In comparison with the older Infinix Hot 8, it comes with a triple rear cameras which includes a 13-mega pixels main camera, 2-mega pixels depth sensor and a lowlight QVGA lens.
On the front, it has an 8-mega pixels selfie camera. The rear camera of the Hot 8 can also shoot videos in 1080P at 30fps, both the front camera as well.
Hot 8 has a quad led flash at the rear but the new Hot 9 comes with a triple rear led flash.
So in terms of camera, hot 9 doesn’t come with a good upgrade. It still has the same 13-mega pixels main camera and an 8-mega pixels selfie camera.
You might say it has a macro lens but to be honest, how many times are you going to use that? There is no upgrade in the camera department.
Battery and Connectivity
Coming to the battery department where energy are being withdrawn, the Hot 9 is powered by a 5,000mAh battery capacity which supports 10W standard charging.
We don’t know if the 10W standard charging version will come to Africa. In comparison, the older Hot 8 has the same 5,000mAh battery capacity.
Again, there is no upgrade in the battery department. Same 5,000mAh battery capacity. Both of them has the same rear mounted fingerprint reader.
Connectivity options includes Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and FM radio.
So in conclusion, the Infinix Hot 9 is a pretty good smartphone, it comes with a modern design, a lot of people will like it so much and its price in Nigeria is worth the capabilities.
But it pains me that this device doesn’t come with a good upgrade, the only minor upgrade here is that it comes with a 6.6inches screen size, a macro lens and a punch hole display.
Nothing more. If you have the Hot 8 and you wanted to get the Hot 9, i will advise you to continue using your Hot 8 because there is no much upgrade here, save your money!
